SBI shares Electoral Bonds data with ECI
Election Commission will have to publish the details shared by the bank on its official website by March 15

Mumbai: State Bank of India (SBI), India’s largest lender, has furnished the data relating to electoral bonds to the Election Commission of India (ECI). As per the sources, who are familiar with the development, the SBI shared the data at 5:30 PM today. ECI will also make the electoral bonds filing public on March 15. As of now, these files have been submitted under sealed covers to the apex court.
Supreme Court had dismissed an application for extension of time filed by the bank for complying with the court’s earlier directions to furnish electoral bonds details on March 11.
Concluding that the requisite information is sufficiently available with the bank. The court had asked the bank to disclose the information by the close of business hours of March 12.
Earlier, talking to Bizz Buzz, Jagdeep Chhokar, founder member of Association of Democratic Reforms (ADR), and former dean at IIM-A, had said: “It’s a good order.” They have moved to implement the judgment of February 15, 2024, in the right spirit. It is sure to bring in more transparency in the electoral funding in the country, he had said.
